Delete Your Account
You can delete your 5PM NYC account at any time. Deletion is permanent and removes all your personal information from our service.
What gets deleted
- Your email address, username, display name, bio, and profile photo
- Your saved favorites
- All lists and bar crawls you created
- Your friend connections (your friends will no longer see you in their friends list)
- Your notification history and push notification tokens
- Any authentication credentials
What may remain
- Anonymized usage analytics (with no link to your identity)
- Encrypted backups for up to 90 days, after which they are purged
- Public bar information you helped verify or submit (the data, not your name)
How to delete: in the app or on the web
Easiest way (after you log in)
- Sign in at 5pm.nyc or open the 5PM app
- Tap your profile avatar in the top right
- Choose Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion by typing DELETE
Your account and data are removed immediately. Backups are purged within 90 days.
Can't access your account?
If you've forgotten your password and can't get back in, or if you need to delete an account associated with an email you no longer have access to, email us:
In your email, please include:
- The email address or username associated with the account
- Any information that can help us verify you are the account owner
We will respond within 7 business days and complete deletion within 30 days of verifying your identity.
Heads up: Deletion is permanent. We cannot recover your lists, friends, or favorites after deletion. If you just want to take a break, you can sign out instead and come back anytime.
Why we require this page
Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store require apps that offer account creation to also offer in-app account deletion, plus a web-accessible page describing how to delete an account. This page satisfies that requirement.
